Nits opens 16-bit and HDR TIFF files, including gain-map and floating-point TIFFs. Support for more formats (HEIC, AVIF, OpenEXR) is on the roadmap.
The App Store displays images in standard dynamic range, so the full HDR effect only appears once you open your own images on your iPad’s HDR display.
Tap the info control to open the EXIF panel (focal length, aperture, shutter, ISO, lens, color profile, bit depth, and HDR headroom), and the chart control to toggle the live RGB histogram.
Open any image from a folder and Nits loads the whole folder. Swipe left or right at fit zoom to step through, or tap a thumbnail in the filmstrip to jump directly.
